Step 1:
Step 2 (Becoming a Real Estate Sales Associate):
- Submit Application, Fingerprint Card, and Fee (Before or after taking an education course)
- Complete FREC approved pre-licensing course
- 63 hours in a classroom/online
- Course attendance applicable for licensing for 2 years after completion
- Approved course available through Real Estate Express

- Obtain a minimum 70% grade on the test given at the end of the course
- Administered online
- If failed, you must wait for 30 days from original test date to retest
- Pass State Examination (1 of the following)
- Activate License
- Complete and submit RE 2050-1 form at test site or to the Division of Real Estate
- If you do not submit the form, your license will be inactive

Step 3 (After You Obtain a Sales Associate License):
- Complete 45 hour post licensing course
- Must be completed before the first license renewal
- IF you have a higher education degree from an accredited institution in real estate, you are exempt from post licensing course requirement

Step 4 (Becoming a Real Estate Broker):
- Before becoming a broker you MUST:
- Hold an active sales associate license for 12 months of the last 5 years in Florida OR
- Hold an active sales associate license for 12 months of the last 5 years in another state OR
- Hold an active broker’s license for 12 months of the last 5 years in another state
- If you are a licensed Florida sales associate, you must complete the 45 hour post license course before becoming eligible for a broker’s license
- Complete FREC approved pre-licensing course for brokers
- 72 hours in a classroom/online
- Course attendance applicable for licensing for 2 years after completion
- Obtain a minimum 70% grade on the test given at the end of course
- Administered online
- If failed, you must wait for 30 days from original test date to retest
- Submit Application, Fingerprint Card, and Fee (Before or after taking an education course)
- Pass State Examination
- Activate License
